Bain & Company announced it has appointed Jean-Charles van den Branden as its Global Sustainability Practice Leader.

Jean-Charles, who is based in Brussels, previously served as Bain’s EMEA Sustainability Practice Leader. In his new role, he will continue to ensure sustainability remains atop the global business agenda, accelerating the integration of emerging technology and AI into Bain’s sustainability offerings.

Jean-Charles’s extensive client work includes shaping sustainability strategies for some of the world’s largest consumer products, industrial, and energy and natural resources companies. He also holds deep expertise in private equity climate investments.

“Jean-Charles has been a pivotal figure in driving our clients' sustainability goals for the past 10 years,” said Christophe De Vusser, Bain’s Worldwide Managing Partner. “Our Sustainability practice consists of some of the world’s top experts, working across every region and every industry toward our bold collective ambition of creating a more sustainable, equitable, and inclusive world. I am confident Jean-Charles will lead the next wave of the practice’s growth, scaling it for even greater impact and advancing our ambition.”

Jean-Charles replaces François Faelli, who is now Bain’s Global Head of Capabilities. During his tenure with the Sustainability practice, Francois led the firm to rapidly mobilize to support clients with their most critical business needs with a focus on visionary pragmatism—helping clients to close the gap on their sustainability commitments and their ability to deliver them. He led the practice to embed sustainability into 20% of Bain’s consulting projects globally, across industries. To enable this, the firm launched Further Academy, the largest program of its kind within the consulting sector, through which all of Bain’s global consultants have access to sustainability training from 12 top universities. This list includes Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Imperial College London, HEC Paris, and Melbourne Business School, among others.

Additionally, Bain’s Sustainability practice has built a world-class ecosystem of partnerships with best-of-breed players in the complex and dynamic sustainability environment, offering its clients access to state-of-the-art platforms across areas like decarbonization and circularity.
