EY has announced that it is relocating to a new office in Cambridge as part of the continued long-term growth investment plan for the business. The new office will be located at One Cambridge Square, in the mixed-use urban Cambridge North masterplan being brought forward by the Chesterton Partnership. It provides excellent transport links, being a short walk away from the Cambridge North train station as well as bus, cycle and pedestrian routes.

The move will coincide with the end of EY’s lease at One Cambridge Business Park where it has been based for nearly two decades. The team are expected to complete the relocation in spring 2024.

EY’s Cambridge office employs nearly 200 people across Assurance, Tax, Consulting and Core Business Services. This year, EY has continued to make significant investments in the local market with the appointment of four new partners and 16 talented graduates and school leavers to its Cambridge office with further numbers arriving in the March and September 2024 intakes.

The new office space will be located on the fourth floor of One Cambridge Square, with EY occupying the majority – nearly 10,000ft2 – of the floor plate. It has been designed to support EY’s approach to a hybrid working model with more areas for in-person collaboration and technology-enabled meeting rooms. With EY people able to split their time between the office, client site or working remotely, offices are becoming increasingly important as a place for collaboration, learning and development and networking.

The new building is BREEAM ‘excellent’ with LED lighting throughout with storage for 350 bikes and access to showers and changing facilities. The move to a more energy efficient building, which is closer to public transport links, will support EY’s sustainability goals and ambition to become net zero globally by 2025.

Stuart Wilkinson, Office Managing Partner at EY in the East of England, said: “Our business in Cambridge has continued to see strong levels of growth, and the investment in the office marks our commitment to maintaining a strong and lasting presence in the region.

“The new office will also support our hybrid working model, as well as our environmental goals, with more areas for collaboration and better energy efficiency. The way in which people work has changed and as such, the spaces in which they occupy need to change as well.

“The new bespoke working environment will provide many opportunities for both our staff and clients, enhancing not only our office working experience, but also helping build upon relationships through enhanced collaboration and teaming.

“The countdown has begun to move next spring and we look forward to welcoming both our employees and clients to our new home.”

Sven Topel, CEO at Brookgate, said: “Securing EY at One Cambridge Square is a testament to the work taking place at Cambridge North to create a new district to attract leading employers. We are pleased to be welcoming the team to this dynamic new cluster of businesses that are seeking sustainable, flexible and best-in-class office space in an exciting new neighbourhood. EY’s arrival takes One Cambridge Square to 75% let following the building’s completion in August 2023 and we’re pleased to be creating a new community in this area of Cambridge.”
