The digital team of Strategy& has been boosted in the Middle East with the addition of Dany Karam and Tony Karam, who join the strategy consulting firm as partners in Dubai.

The partnership of Strategy& in the Middle East has welcomed two new members to its ranks; seasoned consultants Dany Karam and Tony Karam, who will both be based out of Dubai and helping to drive the strategy consultancy’s digital transformation agenda. Dany joins from McKinsey, with the pair also having previously worked together at Accenture in the UAE.

Upon completion of an electrical and computer engineering degree with Rutgers University in New Jersey, Tony Karam joined the New York office of Accenture in 1998, the professional services firm where he would spend the next two decades – crossing to its Middle East branch in 2011. There he served as the Health & Public Service lead for MENA, before most recently heading up Accenture Digital across MENAT.

Since departing the firm in 2018, Karam has served as a government reform and transformation advisor, and until recently as an executive vice president and digital transformation business lead at cyber consultancy DarkMatter, which has since switched its activities to Digital 14. In addition, for the past four years, Karam has acted as an entrepreneurial mentor with MIT’s Venture Mentoring Services organisation.

“A warm welcome to Tony, who joins us to champion the digital agenda in the Middle East,” Strategy& stated on LinkedIn. “Tony has a vast experience and track record partnering with clients across the US, Europe, and the Middle East on their digital transformation journeys, driving complex systems integration programs, and applying technological innovation to create business value and social impact.”

Also an electrical and computer engineering graduate of Rutgers, Dany Karam meanwhile crosses from McKinsey & Company, where he has spent the past five and a half years as an Associate Partner with ‘Leap by McKinsey’ – the management consultancy’s digital strategy, design and venturing unit. Earlier, he spent a decade with Accenture’s digital practice, first in the US and then Abu Dhabi.

An expert in end-to-end digital transformations and driving front-line innovation, Karam’s most recent work has focused on the financial services and public sectors, including developing and blueprinting business concepts and ventures, building and leading digital transformation units, and defining and developing digital agile teams, organisational structure, and operating models.

The appointments come as Strategy& have released its latest report on the global digital economy, which shows that the countries of the GCC have demonstrated strong digital sector growth over the past decade. However, the firm’s modelling suggests that should these countries move from being ‘digital adopters’ to ‘digital disruptors’, some $138 billion could be added to regional GDP.
